CJ Hendry’s Balloon-Free Tribute to Jeff Koons in New Exhibition
Open for a limited time from April 11 to 20 in Brooklyn, CJ Hendry’s latest immersive work, Keff Joons, is an imaginative tribute to Jeff Koons’s iconic balloon sculptures. Known for her meticulous detail and conceptual ingenuity, Hendry reimagines the playful grandeur of balloon animals in her own distinctive style, challenging traditional perceptions of space and form.
“But there are actually no balloons in this exhibition. How’s that for a playful twist?” Hendry states in a promotional video for Keff Joons on Instagram.
Despite the lack of balloons, Keff Joons is deeply rooted in playful interaction. The exhibition invites guests to navigate a landscape of suspended motion, stepping into a kaleidoscopic world of floating, oversized sculptures that shift and transform with every movement—leaving them wondering where they’ll warp to next. Yet beneath the surface lies a deeper meditation on growth, fragility, and the fleeting nature of existence.
Like most of the artist’s happenings, where people line up to see the work no matter where it is, Keff Joons may just be the season’s most unmissable experience—blurring the line between reality and illusion at 50 Gold Street in Brooklyn, New York.
