How PATI and LOEWE Are Showcasing Indian Artists Globally

At the intersection of fashion and art lies an opportunity for innovation. The Public Arts Trust of India (PATI) and the renowned LOEWE FOUNDATION are breaking new ground as they announce their partnership—marking LOEWE’s first collaboration in India.

Fashion houses and art organizations have long shared a history of fostering cross-cultural connections and expanding artistic horizons. The partnership between PATI and the LOEWE FOUNDATION is no exception. As Sana Rezwan, founder of PATI, explains, their joint goal is to “work collaboratively to create meaningful platforms for exceptional artisans in India, supporting them to showcase their work on an international stage, both through the LOEWE FOUNDATION programs and PATI’s Jodhpur Arts Week.”

A highlight of this partnership is the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, a prestigious international award celebrating outstanding craftsmanship. “With a shared passion for the preservation and promotion of traditional crafts and a focus on craftsmanship, the LOEWE FOUNDATION’s Craft Prize was a natural partner for us to support artisans across India within its global platform,” says Rezwan.

On the local impact, Rezwan emphasizes, “Rajasthan is PATI’s home state and although we represent LOEWE FOUNDATION’s Craft Prize across India, our focus will always be to support the artisans within our communities in Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Rajasthan.” She adds, “With increased exposure, artisans will gain access to new markets, further enhancing their livelihoods and ensuring the sustainability of these invaluable art forms. We are also ambitious that our partnership will help inspire new generations to celebrate and continue our craft traditions.”

Looking ahead, both PATI and the LOEWE FOUNDATION expect to draw international attention to Indian artisans through their upcoming exhibitions, workshops, and PATI’s exclusive design residencies. There is no doubt that each party is determined to change fashion and contemporary art through artistic convergence.

To celebrate, PATI will host the Jodhpur Arts Week Special Projects Edition from October 15 to October 21, 2024. The event will feature an exhibition of Rajasthani artisan Maina Devi, the first Indian finalist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, alongside the public unveiling of “Hindolo”, a public sculpture by Bhimanshu Pandel.
